HUSH – A new music piece, exploring gender identity through voice
An exciting new musical work is set to make its debut in Blackpool this summer. HUSH…? – is a selection of songs, inspired by the voices of transgender people. It’s all about voice – how it defines us, how our voices express our gender identity, our sense of self, and how we are, or are not, heard.
As part of Blackpool Pride Festival local choir, Revoe-lution, will perform part of the Hush song cycle with transgender performer Triston Whiston on Sunday 12th June 2016.
Polly Thomas (Director) “We’ve been talking to transgender men and women, their families and the medical teams who work with them on voice. Out of this research, we have created a series of songs that tell the journey of a voice.”
Alex Bulmer(Writer) writes “I’m delighted to have my songs and story performed by the Blackpool community choir. When artists and enthusiastic community members work together, it feels like a truly shared event “
